September Each Year BACKGROUND OF COURSE The
Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Television Production is taught in the TV
Production Section of the Directing Department. This section has four students
at any given time at the specialization levels. There are three full-time and
two part-time academic staff who are industry practitioners. The vibrant TV
Production section is constantly monitoring what is happening on the industry
landscape and reacting accordingly in order to make our students industry-ready.
This responsive approach allows this section to maintain its position at the
cutting edge of training for an industry that is in constant state of
development and growth. COURSE AIMS AND
OBJECTIVES ·
To
help student acquire collaborative, managerial and leadership skills. ·
To
prepare students for the digital media techniques and also to prepare them for
production ranging from single and multi-camera television drama through work in
the studio and on location. ·
To
help students see the need to push their abilities, take chances and expand
their knowledge. ·
To
help students learn that clear methods of communicating when working on all
forms of programmes can only improve if people work efficient as a team, taking
responsibility for their decisions and actions with the practical framework that
will be provided. ·
To
help students acquire the knowledge and skills which will allow them to
communicate their experience of a script to an audience. TEACHING METHODS Learning
takes the form of lectures, tutorials, weekly practical projects, presentations
and end of academic year projects. Even though students start their
specialisation in Level 300, they are given the opportunity to do a five-minute
television project work in the first semester in Level 200.The courses at Levels
300 and 400 culminate in 10minutes and 30minutes TV project works respectively.
As part of the requirement of the course, students are required to submit a
dissertation in order to qualify for graduation. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS The
general requirements for admission apply. The Sectional requirement are the
ability to communicate effectively. |
