Rector's Message
Professor Linus Abraham
The National Film & TV Institute has been a premiere institution in film and television training in Africa, having trained students from all over Africa, many of whom now occupy important positions in the media industries in their countries.
With the rapid technological changes that are now taking place in the film and broadcasting industries, NAFTI is repositioning itself once again to be the premiere center of excellence in training in film and television. We are engaged in a continuing re-assessment of our curricular to ensure it takes into account current trends and practices in the industry, as well emphasizing issues of appropriate African cultural representations. We are in the process of re-assessing the institute’s technological and equipment needs to make them globally and digitally compatible. We are also in the process of introducing two new programmes, in the areas of Broadcast Journalism and Production & Media Management, to serve growing areas of need in the media industry in Africa.

To ensure quality assurance and to imbibe knowledge and best practices from across the world, we have built significant external relations, and sought membership in recognized and acclaimed institutions in the areas of film and television. NAFTI has been a member of the famed CILECT (Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision, English: International Association of Film and Television Schools), since 19--, and has contributed in a leadership role in developing the African sub-regional wing of CILECT, CARA (CILECT Africa Regional Association)

Through workshops, sponsored by significant benefactors (such as the Goethe Institute and the French Embassy) we continue to bring famed film-makers from all over the world to enhance our curriculum with best practices in film & TV, and to enhance the skills of our faculty.. Our Faculty are constantly kept abreast of international standards of film and TV making.
NAFTI is a vibrant Institution of film training, which seeks, through its curriculum, to nurture students who are not just skilled in the crafts of film and television production, but who are intellectually rigorous and critical in their appreciation, interpretation and representation of their cultures. Our degrees are awarded through the University of Ghana, one of the premiere Universities in Ghana and Africa.
We invite students from all over Africa and the world to become a part of this vigorous environment of learning and practice. You will find our curricula challenging, our faculty engaging, and a curious and vibrant student culture that will help you grow, in such a way that will help you hit the ground running, when you enter the industry.
Thanks for visiting our website and regards,

Professor Linus Abraham
