 ADMISSION TO DEGREE PROGRAMMES

AUGUST 2008

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for admission to four-year professional Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) DEGREE PROGRAMMES in Film and Television Production at NAFTI. The Degree Programmes are run by NAFTI, in affiliation with the University of Ghana, Legon.

Fields of specialization:  Film Directing, Television Production,  Motion Picture Photography,  Editing, Film Sound Production,  Animation, and Art Direction.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 

  1. General Certificate of Education: 'O' Level Passes with credits in 5 subjects (including English Language, Mathematics, an Arts subject and a Science subject) and 3 passes at 'A' Level. At least one of the 'A' Level passes should be a grade D or better. A pass in General Paper is necessary.

  2. Senior Secondary Certificate: Passes in four core subjects, namely English, Mathematics, Science or Integrated Science and Social Studies or Life Skills and any three relevant elective subjects, with an aggregate score of not more than 24 in the WAEC Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations.

  3. Entrance Examination: Candidates will be required to pass a written paper and an interview.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE 

i.                   LOCAL CANDIDATES

a.      Local candidates may purchase Forms at a fee of GH¢ 50.00 (Fifty Ghana Cedis) in banker’s Draft and NOT Postal/Money Order. Cash paid personally will be accepted.  The Fee is not refundable once the Form is sold. 

b.     No Application Form will be sent to candidates who do not enclose the Application Fee. 

c.      The completed Application Form, together with supporting documents including copies of Certificates (which will not be returned to the Applicant) are to be enclosed in the pre-paid addressed Expedited Mail Services (EMS) Envelope and forwarded to reach the Institute not later than March 31, 2008.   

d.     Candidates should confirm their results with the West African Examinations Council and request a copy to be sent directly to the Institute. 

e.      Only short-listed applicants will be contacted.

 

ii.                 FOREIGN CANDIDATES

a.     Foreign candidates and Ghanaian applicants outside the country may access the Admission Form from the NAFTI Website or write to the Institute.  They are to send an Application Fee of US $ 75.00 (Seventy-Five US Dollars) in Banker’s Draft together with the completed Form direct to the Institute. 

b.    Governments, International Agencies, Broadcasting organizations and other Film and Television Institutions which may wish to sponsor candidates from African countries for programmes at NAFTI should attach duly signed guarantees of sponsorship to the completed Application Forms to reach the Institute not later than May 30, 2008.
